History
Markham Gateway Public School is named due to its location. Being near the junction of Steeles Avenue and Markham Road, our school finds itself as an entry point into the Markham Community and York Region.
Our school motto is: Courtesy...Consideration...Co-operation...Commitment
We have chosen the symbol of the Titan to represent our confidence, strong character and persistence in whatever challenges may come our way.
Facilities
Markham Gateway Public School was officially opened in 2001. In addition to our Kindergarten Year 1 and Year 2 to Grade Eight academic programs, there are two Special Needs Community classes offered. For the parent community, the Ontario Early Years Centre provides programming, through the Parent and Family Literacy Centre (PFLC), that supports our commitment to community learning and family engagement.
Mission
The mission of Markham Gateway Public School is to see ourselves as a community of learners: staff, students, parents working together to encourage the best in each one of us. We are committed to preparing students for a society in which diversity is recognized, respected and valued. To assure a culture conducive to the development of its members, we believe in the principles essential to democratic citizenship and to life-long learning. We strive to achieve our personal attributes academically, socially and emotionally in a safe environment.
